Destination Highlights

Volunteering Opportunities

Help renovate classrooms to improve the quality of students’ lives and assist at a wildlife conservation center by preparing meals for the animals, feeding them, and assisting the vet on his rounds.

Sample Itinerary In Costa Rica

This school trip combines making a difference conserving a variety of wildlife including monkeys, sloths and parrots with kayaking, zip lining, hiking and cooking classes, all led by expert Costa Rican guides.

Day 1: Arrive in Costa Rica

Upon arrival in Costa Rica, you are greeted at the airport and transferred to your hotel near San Jose, the capital city. You have a welcome dinner and settle in to your surroundings.

Day 2: Volcanoes, coffee, waterfalls and wildlife

We get up early this morning to have the best chance of seeing Poas volcano before it clouds over. We then head to a coffee plantation to learn about coffee production.

The next stop is La Paz Waterfall Gardens, where, in addition to a splendid 120-ft waterfall, you can see a wide variety of rescued wildlife, including sloths, monkeys, parrots, ocelots, and jaguars.
After this enthralling encounter, we are driven to Arenal. If the clouds are favorable, you can see your second volcano, Arenal, a perfect cone shape.

Settle into your new hotel.

Days 3-5: Wildlife conservation volunteering

For these three days, you get to make a difference at a wildlife rescue center near Arena,l where, after an introduction, you will get involved in a variety of tasks that are needed to keep the center functioning, including:

  • Meal preparation
  • Feeding the animals
  • Assisting the resident vet on his rounds
  • Maintaining the enclosures
  • Building new enclosures
Day 6  Hiking, kayaking, and cooking

This morning, we put on our hiking boots and joined our expert guide for a hike around the base of Arenal volcano.

After lunch, we hit Lake Arenal for a splendid kayak exploration and finished the day with a cooking class, learning Costa Rican delights such as gallo pinto, ceviche, and tortillas.

Day 7 Departure

After breakfast, we return to the San Jose airport for your flight.
